Ghost Adventures at the Queen Mary

My roommate Jenny and I have been bonding quite a bit over our fascination with ghost tv shows. We decided to head to the Queen Mary, docked in Long Beach, since we both had the day off. My other roommate Iris and her friend Dennis came with us.

We signed up for the Haunted Encounters Tour and prepared ourselves for a day of ghost activity. (We've even come up with a premise for our own ghost show to air on the travel channel, so we were armed with flashlights, cameras, and recorders to practice our paranormal investigations. :)

The tour took us to exclusive locations on the cruise ship and explained stories of its history and hauntings. After the tour, we saw a special effects show in which they (lamely) attempted to recreate the hauntings that have supposedly happened in the past.

We also got to explore the ship all we wanted on our own. Jenny and I stuck to B Deck, the deck with the most claims of activity. We knocked on doors, hunted down smells, and took pictures in dark alleys. And found/saw/heard nothing. :(

The only thing we could agree on was the weird feeling we got in our chests while we were in the pool - the hotspot 'vortex' in the dead center of the ship. We both felt it was harder to breathe and our chests hurt. We were both rubbing our throats and hadn't said anything when the tour guide explained that visitors usually experience much the same things in that room. Weird.
This is the swimming pool.
Standing the middle of B Deck, ready to see some ghosts.
Jenny and I finally made it to the Queen Mary! Check that off the bucket list!

We were a little disappointed that we didn't see anything, but had a blast anyways. We'll just have to call over the good looking ghost hunters on television to come with us next time.

  1. You can come and explore my parents house in Milwaukie. I swear that that place still has issues even after the whole exorcism thing.
