Deep Breath.

Once again in a state of frustration, I turn to writing as my outlet.

A few days ago, I was talking with a friend from high school. He point-blank asked me if college was the right decision for me.  Not hesitating, I answered with absolute certainty that I had never questioned (nor do I now question) my decision to go to college.  He pointed out he did not finish college, yet he has a full-time job, a wife, and a house.  He continued to list off examples of other friends who graduated from college and like me, are still living at home with no full-time employment.  I'm sure he was just rationalizing his choice to end his college career.  But it stung a little.

This morning I was talking to a friend from college about the aforementioned conversation.  She responded with the rebuttal "If you really wanted a job, you could find one." I'm sure she just meant this in my defense in reaction to the high school friend's statement.  But it stung a little.

I believe my friends have good intentions.  I hope their beliefs would be different if they truly understood the whole situation.  I do not feel the need to justify the choices I make in my life to anyone.  That being said, I find myself incredibly sensitive and self-conscious about where I am at in life at the moment.

Without going into detail about just how difficult it really is to find a job that will lead to a career, I want to acknowledge my insecurities and attribute my new-found sensitivity to them.

I have to remind myself I should keep my eyes on my own paper.  I should not care what other people (sometimes even my friends) think.

Keep my eyes on my own paper.
Don't care what other people think.

Keep my eyes on my own paper.
Don't care what other people think.

Keep my eyes on my own paper.
Don't care what other people think.
