Central Bakery Tour

Yesterday the College Program took an Academic Field Experience trip to the Central Bakery for the Disneyland Resort. It's a random building in the middle of the cast member parking lot that has only been open since March. We were all a little skeptical about it - how exciting could a bakery be, right? But it was actually pretty interesting.

In the pantry, we saw the carriage that I'm assuming they use for Disney weddings. So pretty!

The HUGE mixing machines they use to make the hundreds of thousands of loaves of corn bread each year.

They have a special temperature-controlled room for working with the Resort's chocolate needs. The table is refrigerated so it won't melt while they're working with it!

The first sign of the holidays at Disneyland: Yule Logs in the fridge!

We got to see how they make the infamous Mickey cookies. White chocolate face, chocolate frosting, and a sugar cookie. Magic gone.

Jean-Marc, our fabulous tour guide who has been with the Resort for 10 years. He's from Paris, and has been seen on the Discovery Channel during Week of Disney. He also builds the gingerbread house that is featured in the Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction.

They surprised us at the end with an assortment of yummy treats!

What kind of Disney kids would we be if we didn't take a picture with the Mickey-face treat?!
